Technological progress and environmental protection are the main driving factors of the transition
process where electric vehicles replace traditional
cars with internal combustion engines. This evolutionary process has led to the emergence of a new
innovative product on the services market: electric
vehicle rental services. The paper presents the analysis of projects, business models, barriers to penetrate the market based on positive and negative foreign and Russian experience. Along with the general trends, the authors also discuss the influence of the local characteristics and conditions on the development of this service using the example of Vladivostok.
