FRENCH CONJUNCTION CAR AND RUSSIAN ИБО IN A COMPARATIVE ASPECT

Abstract

The article is devoted to a comparative study of the French causal conjunction car  and the  Russian ibo, the  semantic and syntactic specificity of which has many controversial points. The novelty of the research lies in the fact that for the first time they are considered in a contrastive aspect using a parallel corpus of texts. In this regard, the present study aims to identify similarities and differences in the functioning of the conjunctions car  and ибо in the translated correspondences of the parallel texts of the National Corpus of the Russian Language. The paper compares the basic definitions of the conjunctions under study, their semantic, syntactic and stylistic specificity. The contexts in which the conjunction car is successfully translated into Russian ибо and vice versa are described, functional correspondences are revealed.
