The article examined the implementation of the movie character of the hero-patriot in the patriotic rhetoric of China. In the English-language political discourse of China and about China, numerous collocations and phrases based on the metaphorical transfer of the Wolf Warrior's movie character were identified (wolf warrior diplomacy; wolf warrior style; wolf warrior ambassador; wolf warrior diplomats; wolf warrior strategy; wolf warrior practices; wolf warrior phenomenon and others). The linguistic, socio-cultural, and political factors of the creation of these verbal units were determined. Axiological differences in the semantics of expressions containing the wolf-warrior component in the Western and Chinese sources were shown. The discrepancy of the evaluative meanings fixed in those combinations was revealed. The research methodology was based on discourse analysis and contextual analysis. The material included 167 discursive fragments selected from English-language sources in China and the West.
