Specific features of borrowing neologisms from English into Russian and Spanish: a comparative analysis

This paper deals with the specific features of borrowing new English-language words into Russian and Spanish. This method of vocabulary acquisition continues to be one of the most productive, but the parameters of the acquiring such vocabulary in the receiving language depend on both extralinguistic and intralinguistic factors. Russian and Spanish still actively adopt the lexicon of English, which requires adaptation to the system of the receiving languages, in particular, in their orthography, phonetics, and morphology. Since the above-mentioned recipient languages have similar grammatical parameters, the study seeks to identify the similarity in their mechanisms of borrowing. In addition, the article indicates specific features of this process and describes the reasons for the revealed similarities and differences.
