Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the peculiarities of the operation of diesel-generator marine power plants and issues of increasing their energy efficiency in idle and low load modes. Diesel generators have recently been widely used as part of auxiliary and main marine power plants. The operation of the ship's diesel in idle and low load modes is characterized by an increase in fuel consumption and increased emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere. The issues of minimizing the negative impact of these regimes on the technical and economic indicators of power plants are currently receiving insufficient attention. The studies carried out confirmed the data of literary sources that a significant period of time transport diesel generators can operate in load modes close to idle mode. During the studies, an analytical system for operational monitoring of energy efficiency was used, the control algorithm of which is based on discrete measurement of external load parameters and corresponding electrical power in a short time interval. In order to optimize the operation of the diesel generator and increase the objectivity of monitoring its energy efficiency, it is recommended to separately record fuel consumption in two load modes of idle operation. In order to increase technical, economic and environmental indicators of power plants, the design of a device for controlling the operation of a diesel generator in idle and low load modes is proposed.
