Abstract

The article deals with topical issues of development of economic and humanitarian cooperation between the
Russian Far East and the countries of Southeast Asia at the present stage. The author pays attention to such issues as
the development of full-fledged trade and economic cooperation and investment projects in the Russian Far East with the participation of the ASEAN economies, the prospects and problems of image positioning and promotion of such cooperation and the regions of the Russian Far East in Southeast Asia. As a typical example, relations between Russia and Vietnam are considered as one of the states of Southeast Asia, traditionally gravitating toward cooperation with our country, relations with which are currently trending towards a new phase of gradual development and cooperation. The article notes that economic, business and humanitarian cooperation, in addition to their immediate goals, can also increase the overall influence of Russia in Southeast Asia, which today remains clearly insufficient for the development of the modern Russian policy of "Pivot to the East" and ensuring national interests in throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
