Abstract

The paper presents the analysis of the Rossica-T corpus compiled by the authors, which features the headings of authentic English-language books describing Russia. The automatic processing as well as manual tagging of the corpus allowed to identify the specific properties of the discourse under study in terms of conventionality / creativity. In particular, the study revealed three levels of text production in Rossica: (1) 1st level convention, i.e. reproduction of stereotypical genre (text type) feature, (2) author’s creativity and (3) the medial component – 2nd level convention, consisting in reproduction of the typical features of the Rossica discourse.
