Abstract

The article is devoted to Francis Fukuyama’s idea of «therapeutic turn» analyzed in the context of his concept of modern society as a mosaic of identities. The features of Fukuyama’s interpretation of the therapeutic turn are revealed through an appeal to similar concepts and ideas of other researchers, including M. Foucault, A. Negri, G. Agamben, J. Baudrillard, J. Radkau, J. Butler and others. The author comes to the conclusion that the disadvantage of this concept concerns the fact that Fukuyama ignores the mediative link between individuals and social institutions that is carried out by the communicative practices of the
life world.
