About the Journal
Founded in 2008, Humanities Research in the Russian Far East publishes original research papers and major review articles.
Journal Mission
Our journal serves as a platform for scholarly discourse and dissemination of cutting-edge research in the field of history and philosophy with particular emphasis on archaeology, history, intellectual thought, culture, ethnic diversity and social dynamics of Siberia, Russian Far East, and neighboring Asia-Pacific countries.
Editorial Vision
The Editorial Board is committed to:
- Preserving and promotingthe unique cultural, historical, and philosophical heritage of these regions through systematic documentation and public engagement;
- Enhancing research qualitythrough rigorous peer review and strict adherence to publication ethics;

Scope and Sections
The journal features both permanent and special thematic sections. Our permanent sections are:
History and Culture of the East
Studies on East Asian history and culture (China, Japan, Korea); philosophical analysis of Buddhism, Confucianism, and other traditions; new translations and commentaries of historical texts
Archaeology, Anthropology and Ethnology in Circum-Pacific
Research on ancient Pacific cultures through archaeological and ethnographic materials; studies of indigenous rituals, crafts, traditional dress, and ecological practices in Siberia and neighboring regions
History of Russian Regions
Examinations of Siberian and Far Eastern history (with comparative perspectives on other Russian territories), including colonization processes, economic development, governance transformations, and cultural evolution
Angles of Social Dynamics
Analyses of social transformations, identity formation, collective memory, and cultural processes at regional and global scales
Philosophia Perennis
Studies in Eastern and Western philosophical traditions, their interactions and dialogue; Russian philosophical thought in global context; current debates in social and scientific thought
In collaboration with leading scholars, we regularly publish special sections highlighting groundbreaking research presented at major academic conferences and critical discussions on emerging disciplinary questions within our scope.

Our primary readership includes:
- researchers and educators specializing in history, philosophy, archaeology, and ethnography of Asian Russia and neighboring regions;
- cultural practitioners engaged in preserving and interpreting Siberian, Far Eastern, and Asia-Pacific heritage;
- graduate students pursuing interdisciplinary humanities research.

The authors retain full and unrestricted copyright to their articles. In case of republication, proper attribution must be given to the original publication in Humanities Research in the Russian Far East.
To ensure the long-term accessibility of the journal's content, its materials are published on the journal's own website, as well as in the following scientific libraries and repositories: Scientific Electronic Library (eLIBRARY.RU), SciUp Publication Platform, CyberLeninka, EBSCOhost.
Authors retain the right to self-archive the final published version (PDF) of their article immediately upon issue publication, without embargo, on personal websites, blogs, academic social networks, institutional repositories, or nonprofit/governmental open-access repositories. The deposited version must include full copyright and source information.
This is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Publication Fees and Funding
Humanities Research in the Russian Far East offers free publishing with no article submission fees, peer review fees or article processing charges (APCs) for all authors. The publication is funded by the journal’s founding institution.
