Abstract

The article is devoted to semantic shifts in German phraseological units with colour-coding components. Using the methods of corpora and contextual analysis the authors investigate
semantic shifts in German phraseological units in the contemporary German language. The relevance
of the work lies in the application of a relatively new corpora research method. In addition, semantic changes in phraseological units with a colour-coding component have not previously been studied
within the framework of corpora research. The results of the work are also of practical use for semantic studies, phraseology, lexicography, and translation purposes.
