Abstract

The objective of this research is to identify the process of cultural appropriation or
absorption of the French loanword "foie gras" in the speech practice of the Russian language. The
article presents the results of observations on the functioning of this lexeme in Russian publicist texts.
The process of cultural appropriation of this loanword is considered on orthographic, grammatical,
lexical and semantic levels. The conclusion about the appearance of additional semantic and connotative nuances and the partial loss of the national-cultural component is based on the analysis
of the contact and combinability of the lexeme under study.
