This article analyzes the specifics of how the concepts of “life” and “death” are verbalized in Korean phraseology. The conceptual dyad is characterized by the presence of both universal and specific features due to the linguistic and cultural tradition of the Korean ethnic group, its
worldview and the principles of information coding. In the course of the work, a set of scientific methods was used, the main ones being the method of conceptual analysis to reveal the mechanisms of conceptualization and categorization of ideas about life and death in the Korean linguistic consciousness, the method of semantic analysis, which allows to identify the key semantic components of Korean idioms and paroemias, as well as a cultural approach aimed at interpreting linguistic units
in the context of cultural norms and values. The study revealed that the lexemes “life” and “death”
themselves are not always used in Korean idioms and proverbs, but the concepts implying these concepts and all aspects related to them are expressed widely and variously. This indicates a high degree of conceptualization of these concepts in Korean linguoculture, even in the absence of their direct
nomination in linguistic units.
