Abstract

This article provides a systematic assessment of the general and specific interests and goals of the countries participating in the AUKUS strategic partnership to identify specific reasons and prerequisites that determine the need to create this alliance in the international security system of the Asia-Pacific region. It is concluded that the AUKUS strategic partnership is presented as a modernized and more practically oriented model of the alliance necessary for the implementation of the military-bloc policy of the United States and its allies in the region at the present stage. The AUKUS concept, which currently includes a nuclear submarine program and the development of a number of science-intensive areas of cooperation in the defense sphere of the alliance members, determines the decisive importance for the participants in the doctrine of a new defense alliance, which is designed not only to ensure the military presence of the United States and Great Britain in the region for several decades to come, but also to qualitatively improve the indicators of geopolitical benefit of the countries, as well as reduce economic and military-political costs in the context of confrontational stagnation between the United States and their allies and China.
