Abstract

The paper presents analysis and verification of approaches to numerical modelling of aerodynamics of thin or small structures as part of buildings or constructions. The immersed body method implemented in ANSYS CFX and the overset mesh technique implemented in ANSYS Fluent are considered. The low accuracy of the immersed body method in the near-field is revealed. The overset mesh technique showed mostly accurate results except for numerical defects at the mesh interface.
