Abstract

The main purpose of the boat is transportation of fish in open cargo compartments connected with the outboard. The problem of minimizing the downtime of the vessel during its operation in the specific conditions of the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk and the settlements located there is quite pending. One of the solutions is to properly consider the dual purpose of the boat at its design stage – which is suggested by the authors of this article. The idea is as follows. Generally, duration of herring and salmon fishing seasons when the boat is used for its primary purpose is several weeks. During the rest of almost semi-annual navigation the boat is equipped with the removable wooden deck flooring closing from above the opened compartments. Scuppers through which cargo compartments are reported with outboard space are closed by impenetrable covers, compartments are drained and the boat works in the scow mode when carrying out road cargo operations. The description of the main characteristics of the vessel and its design features is provided.
