The study of operational characteristics is necessary to increase the efficiency of axial partial microturbines. In this paper, theoretical and empirical research methods are considered from the point of possibility of practical application to improve the gas-dynamic characteristics of axial partial microturbines. The analysis made it possible to establish the advantages and disadvantages of each method. The theoretical method is subdivided into analytical and numerical, the disadvantage of the analytical method is the unacceptably low accuracy of the results, as well as the impossibility of its use for calculating the characteristics of gas moves in the channels of the microturbine. The results of the numerical method require mandatory experimental confirmation and are directly dependent on the operator. The empirical method provides high reliability of the initial data when designing axial partial microturbines. Based on the analysis performed, it can be stated that the empirical method is currently the most promising for studying the efficiency of axial partial microturbines.
