Abstract

The article is devoted to the peculiarities of the development of mariculture in Korea. The study provides a comparative analysis of various approaches to the disclosure of the essence of the term mariculture. The theory of ancient aquaculture was considered. The origin and evolution of Korean mariculture technologies were studied. The author comes to the conclusion that the origin of mariculture on the Korean peninsula occurred during the XV-XVII century. with the beginning of the development of red algae (Porphyra) and oysters (Crassostrea gigas).
