Abstract

Based on archival materials of the Vladivostok Guard Department (Okhrana), stored in the Russian State Historical Archive of the Far East and State Archive of Khabarovsk Kray, the article discusses the history and
functioning of the underground organisation Military Union of the Vladivostok Fortress. The personnel, goals, objectives
and ideology of the organisation, the investigation by the officers of the gendarmerie of the activities of the organisation and the context of its existence within the revolutionary movement in the Russian Far East after the First Russian Revolution of 1905–1907 are considered. It is shown that the Military Union of the Vladivostok fortress organically fit into the activity of the revolutionary parties of the Russian Empire. The methods of dealing with it by the Guard Department made it possible to neutralise the threat in a timely manner.
