Filipino Diaspora in the USA: Formation and Experience of Collective Adaptation

The role and significance of diasporas in the modern world cannot be overestimated, taking into account the
constant growth of the number of their population and involvement of diasporas in social, economic, political, cultural,
intellectual relations in the countries of their residence, as well as the contacts with the countries of their origin. In the
article the processes of formation and development of the Filipino diaspora in the United States is researched. The
issues of its adaptation to the conditions of the country of residence are in the focus of analysis. The article reveals the
advantages of the Filipino-American community in this process compared to the other groups of the Asian-Americans
and touches on the difficulties which the Filipino-Americans face in everyday reality. The role of family values turns out to be of particular importance as an instrument of shaping the worldview of the Filipino-Americans. The paper examines the socio-demographic and cultural features of the Filipino diaspora, its economic potential, participation in the political sphere. The methodological basis of the work includes the analysis of research results of domestic and foreign authors. The article represents statistical data on a discussed problem.
