Abstract

On May 20th, 2021, the Department of International Relations
of the Oriental Institute – School of Regional and International
Studies, FEFU, conducted a theoretical workshop under the
theme “The splendors and miseries of identity: what are the
pitfalls of theoretical negligence?” The workshop was attended
by both FEFU faculty and scholars from other universities and
research organizations. The keynote presentation was delivered
by Professor Anatoly Kuznetsov, who analyzed the general aspects
of the concept of identity and its meaning regarding international
relations. As the presenter pointed out, although the concept of
identity is now firmly established in the international-political
discourse, the absolutization of its applicability in the domain of
international relations raises serious doubts.
