Over the past two to three decades, so many diverse studies on the problems of contrastive linguistics have appeared that in fact a new branch of linguistics has emerged. Most often, contrastive studies are associated with the tasks of teaching foreign languages. A contrasting study should contain a systematic comparison of the forms and meanings of structural units of the compared languages, based on the assumption of the existence of some basic similarity between languages in the presence of differences differentiating these languages. When comparing languages, it is impossible to compare all linguistic facts at the same time, because the specificity of each aspect of the language requires a special approach to them. The sound side, the lexical and grammatical structure of the language have different properties. The results of the study can serve as a basis for the development of a methodology for teaching Russian to Vietnamese students and Russian students of the Vietnamese language.
