Abstract

The article analyzes the transformation of the mass consciousness of the Russian population during the Soviet and post-Soviet periods. Attention is paid to the influence of the conjuncture of the political system on the value characteristics of the mass consciousness. The study revealed several stages in the formation and transformation of Soviet and post-Soviet political consciousness: the period of formation of the "Soviet person", "late
Soviet" consciousness, resocialization of consciousness during the years of "realignment", the formation of "postSoviet" consciousness and the current stage of transformation of consciousness. An analysis of all the identified
stages is presented.
