Indochina Countries: Problems, Challenges, Achievements

Abstract

The article is a review of the collective monograph "Mainland Countries in ASEAN: Core Trends of Development". The work examines the achievements and difficulties of the states of the subregion, which in the last century went through the most difficult tests in their history. The materials presented in the monograph reflect the panorama of events in Indochina, highlighting the dynamics of the political process, issues of economic cooperation, and the international agenda. Based on the studied materials, the authors seek to show how the international significance of the Indochina countries has grown over the past decades. The mainland states of the Southeast Asia (SEA) have strengthened ties with external partners and began to play a key role in large-scale international projects, and have also become key participants in ASEAN intraregional cooperation. Historically close ties between Russia and the countries of Indochina, especially with Vietnam, which is one of our country’s main strategic partners on the world stage, give it the opportunity to increase effective cooperation in SEA.
