Abstract

International relations in Northeast Asia are characterized by turbulence caused by the chaotic behavior of actors and the changing nature of the connections between them. There are none in the region security institutions, which reduces stability and predictability. Current state of affairs depends on changing the nature of contradictions, reducing opportunities for negotiations, increasing the importance of forceful deterrence, and connecting cognitive and information dimensions. Detente is possible only if a compromise is found by the two main centers of power - China and the United States, but the contradictions have become systemic and comprehensive. The growing US-Chinese confrontation has significant impact on the security interests of the Russian Federation.
