Abstract

The thematic section of this issue of the magazine is devoted to the issues of multiculturalism and multilingualism of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, where European (primarily Russian) and Oriental cultural values converge. In the context of globalization processes, on the one hand, there is an intensification of the "dialogue of cultures", the leveling of national cultural differences and the widespread borrowing of other people's characteristics, including the study of foreign languages and familiarization with the achievements of world culture. On the other hand,
The high intensity of cross-cultural contacts often becomes a factor in strengthening national identity and preserving ethnic identity.
The processes of intercultural interaction are studied by the authors of the rubric from various disciplinary positions. Along with the historical approach to the study of cultural communities and their representatives, they apply the methods of ethnosociology and linguistic and cultural studies.
