The following thematic headings are planned for publication in the "Oriental Institute Journal":

2023 №3 (Deadline: 30.07.2023)

Thematic heading: "Historical politics and collective memory in the Far East"

The thematic section of the issue is devoted to the research of the Far East region and adjacent territories in the context of memory studies. It is planned to form the block in such a way that it reflects the problems of collective and cultural memory, places of memory and commemoration. The territorial scope of the articles covers the Far Eastern Federal District of the Russian Federation, China, Mongolia and Korea. We consider the Far East in the broadest interpretation of this term as De Oriente Extremo. Within the section of the issue, the authors will try to identify the problematic field for this macro-region. The fact is that in the context of the so-called “third wave” of memory studies, it is important to reflect non-European forms of memory and symbols of the past that determine group identity.

2023 №4 (Deadline: 30.10.2023)

Thematic heading: "Modern Practices of Local Self-Government in Asia-Pacific Countries and the Russian Far East"

The studies presented in the thematic heading are focused on revealing modern trends in local self-government, the main of which is the spread of various practices of deliberative decision-making on issues of local importance. Mechanisms and tools of deliberative democracy turned out to be in demand at the municipal level. This testifies to the universality of local problems and indicates the prospects for international interaction of local communities in the exchange of experience in solving them. A new form of public diplomacy and a new approach to the organization and implementation of local self-government are developing in close connection with each other.

2024 №1 (Deadline: 30.01.2024)

Thematic heading: "Pacific Region as a Cross-Road of Languages and Cultures"

The thematic issue is supposed to consider the issues of multiculturalism and multilingualism of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, where European (Russia) and Eastern cultural values converge. In the context of globalization processes, on the one hand, there is an activation of the "dialogue of cultures", the leveling of national cultural differences and the widespread borrowing of foreign features, including the study of foreign languages and familiarization with the achievements of world culture. On the other hand, there are many examples of strengthening national self-consciousness and preserving ethnic identity.

In the articles planned for the rubric, the authors will share the results of cross-cultural research in the field of linguo-culturology, historical ethnography, teaching oriental languages, highlighting the specific (national) and common in the languages and cultures of the countries of the Far East.
