Abstract

We chromatographed Maackia. amurensis heart wood extract on a polyamide column to obtain fractions of natural polyphenolics identified using HPLC-UV-MS technique. We found that fractions containing only isoflavonoids possessed significantly lower antioxidant and antiradical activities compared to M. amurensis heart wood extract. Fractions containing resveratrol, piceatannol, and dimeric stilbenes inhibited linoleic acid peroxidation more effectively than isoflavonoids from M. amurensis heart wood extract and antioxidant ionol. We propose to use the new antioxidant, M. amurensis heart wood extract as a food supplement in agriculture.
