Abstract

The article is devoted to the consideration of communicative tactics of apology strategy in modern French. The research is carried out in the context of the communicative-pragmatic approach. The material of the study is the novel "Mots d'excuse: les parents écrivent aux enseignants" by Patrice Romain, a contemporary French writer, teacher, school principal. The article considers the communicative strategy of apology as the leading strategy of the discourse of the explanatory note, as well as the tactics implementing it and the linguistic means characteristic of each of the tactics. The aim of the article is to systematise the communicative tactics and linguistic means characteristic of the apology strategy in the discourse of the explanatory note. Based on the results of the analysis, the author concludes that the apology strategy is contradictory: one and the same strategy, depending on the tactics used by the writer, can act both as a contact-establishing strategy and as a confrontational one.
