The article is devoted to the linguistic contextualism method of the Sussex Intellectual History School, which has an original polycontextual approach to the reconstruction of past meanings. It is believed that the approach of the Sussex School is able to reveal vividly the historical and linguistic contexts of the text and, therefore, to express in detail such factors of meaning-formation as the author's intention, its connections with the discourse of the epoch and the cultural-historical situation. The article reviews the conditions of the school formation, provides a generalized description of its conceptual views, principle positions and its main method.
