Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of translation and research approaches of W.K. Kuchelbecker (1797-1846) to Shakespeare. Unfortunately, his works were published only at the end of the XX century and the translated literature modern to the poet was not influenced by his work. Discussing what this influence could have been, the author of the article argues that in the difficult situation of the formation of Shakespeare's domestic translation reception, Kuchelbecker was always in the leading positions that determined its effective development in the XIX century. Moreover, the paper presents the conclusions that the translation heritage of Kuchelbecker is of considerable interest for modern translated literature.
