Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of modern foreign policy discourse of China. A relatively new method of linguistic research has been used – discursive analysis. The purpose of the study is to reveal the principles of diplomatic and strategic development in the text corpus of modern foreign policy discourse of the PRC during the reign of the fourth-generation Chinese leader Hu Jintao (2003–2012) and the fifth-generation leader Xi Jinping (2013 to the present). The paper describes linguistic aspect as an integral factor in the foreign policy of the People’s Republic of China at present time. The author describes a change in the ‘language of diplomacy’, which is marked by the emergence of new concepts and terms that describe the realities of modern world and China’s actions in the international arena.
