Abstract

The article examines the structural, syntagmatic, semantic, and pragmatic features of the metalingustic commentary of v bukvalnom smysle slova (in the literal sense of the word). The selectivity in the use of structural variants of this meta-indicator is substantiated, as well as the relevance of its postpositive location in relation to the marked component of the utterance. There are four types of metacommentary usage, depending on the operation performed on the meaning of the selected component and the nature of the semantics of the latter.
