Features of dialectisms’ functioning in B.P. Ekimov’s novel “Parents’ House”

Abstract

Dialectisms are language units that serve as a means of communication for a group of people living in a certain territory. Dialect language differs from the literary language by its phonetic and word-forming features, but, as a colloquial language, it is a systematic variety of the Russian literary language. At present, the problem of studying dialectisms remains actual. Many linguists are trying to identify the possibilities of such words appearance, to study their lexical, grammatical and phoneme composition with the help of fiction texts. The Volgograd prose writer B.P. Ekimov is among the actual and famous writers who use colloquial language in their work. To identify and classify dialectisms we have chosen the novel “Parents house”, which, like all the works of the writer, has the features of “village prose”. The dialect vocabulary in the novel demonstrates the connection with the past, traditions, nature and life of the farmstead Karaichevo inhabitants, as well as the versatility and richness of thr Russian language.
