The article deals with the syntactic constructions with the conjunction all the same as, which is the result of the development of the polyfunctional unit all the same. Its basic meaning and functioning in the modern Russian language are described. Typical structural varieties of Russian sentences in which the comparative conjunction all the same as is used are revealed. It is established that the conjunction function correlates with two words, and more often – with a larger number of linguistic units differing in composition and structure.
