Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the domestic political and economic situation in China on the eve of the 20th CPC Congress. The most important tasks facing the Chinese leadership are identified. Attention is drawn to methods for solving economic and demographic problems. The policy of the PRC towards Taiwan is highlighted and the role of the United States in preserving the island as an independent state is shown. The attempts of the Taiwanese leadership to defend their independence by expanding foreign policy ties with small European countries are shown. The US methods of counteracting Chinese economic expansion are analyzed and the goals of new military-political alliances in East Asia are clarified. Attention is paid to the renewal of personnel in the highest bodies of the CCP. Two factions of the CPC have been identified based on different socio-economic bases. A detailed assessment of the results of the 20th Congress of the CPC is given and it is concluded that the decisions of the Congress are aimed at reviving the role of the state in all spheres of life in Chinese society. The Chinese leadership has adjusted China's development for the next five years and justified the need to pay more attention to national security. The strengthening of the political positions of Xi Jinping as a theoretician of Marxism with "Chinese characteristics" is noted. His course of "national revival" was approved by the congress delegates.
