Abstract

The initiative to establish an Association of Law Universities of the
Shanghai Cooperation Organization countries on a voluntary basis was proposed by
Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Keqiang at the 20thMeeting of the Council of Heads of Government of Member States of the Shanghai
Cooperation Organization (SCO) in 2021.
The task of concrete implementation of this initiative was entrusted to the Shanghai
University of Political Science and Law. Many universities of the SCO countries, including the Far Eastern Federal University, supported this initiative and participated in the
first meeting of its representatives. The Association of Law Schools of the SCO Countries
(hereinafter referred to as the Association) will promote the development of cooperation
in the field of legal education, create favorable conditions for intensifying research activities within the SCO, strengthening legal guarantees for economic and trade cooperation
between the SCO states. The activities of the Association will be aimed at implementing
the principle of the rule of law in the world.
