STRATEGIC CHOICE OF CHINA-RUSSIAN RELATIONS: PARTNERSHIP OR ALLIANCE?

Abstract

China and Russia are the largest neighbors. China-Russian relations are the most important for both countries, which directly affects their security and development. In the history of China and Russia (formerly the USSR) there were three alliances that did not last long. The historical past has proved that an alliance between China and Russia is far from the best choice. Based on the generalization of historical experience and lessons learned, China and Russia have found the best model suitable for the development of relations between the two countries at this stage. They managed to establish relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation, so today relations between the two countries have entered the path of healthy and stable development. In the short term, China and Russia will naturally continue to deepen and strengthen their relations within the framework of partnership and strategic cooperation. In the long term, China and Russia do not rule out the possibility of reforming a military-political alliance.
