The Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials of Korea

Abstract

The article describes the history of establishment of the Office for Investigation of Crimes of Senior Officials in the Republic of Korea. The article shows its authority as well as the problems encountered by this Department in its activities. The changes that took place in the competence of the Department in accordance with the amendments to the legislation are shown. The procedure for the appointment and dismissal of Management staff, attitudes to the service, and the procedure for bringing to disciplinary responsibility have been reviewed. The failures in Management actions are noted and attempts to improve this structure are presented.
